I am trying to leverage my high traffic SBI (Site Build It) website that gets free organic traffic to build my list.

I was listening to Alex Jeffreys today, and brought up a very valid point that most internet marketers ignore – You must first build credibility! Alex actually says ‘don’t pimp youself’ and how true is that?

You must prove what you are doing is successful before you will have success as an internet marketer. Quite simple really. I wasn’t sure about building a list and how it would all work out, but I followed Alex and it’s working just great for me, I actually think it is a ‘success’.

I was not even beginning to think about caputuring my traffic to build a list which would be of great use to me for years to come. Never mind I didn’t know anything about auto responders, email list builders, or anything of the like.

I know understand Alex’s point. You can’t say “hey look at me, follow me, trust me” unless you have some form of credibility to back it up.

How true is that….. I now know I am well on my way to building credibility and that it won’t happen over night, but that with each step I take, more credibility can be established.

Eye opening stuff!

Now, that is pretty good for someone who has never promoted a list before. After 1 year I should have over 500 people on this list. The trick will be to keep the list warm and happy! There is a fair bit of traffic to this site, just over 400 a day, but the list is only promoted on two pages.

Wonder how I got to 400 + visitors a day?

I use Site Build It and am really happy with the progress I have made for a newbe to the internet.

My site earns about $400 usd a month from advertising. Last year at this time it was making only $60 so we are heading upwards with these numbers. SBI or Site Build It is a great tool for new and seasoned internet entrepreneurs. It provides a huge amount of tools to let you build a successful website without having to go outside for further resources.

I can easily attach documents, pdf’s, ebooks etc. The stats are up to date always, and the emails get through to the subscriber – a very important point that is often overlooked when people are looking for autoresponders to build an EMAIL LIST that is useful and effective.

Aweber is not the cheapest auto responder, but they have been around the block and are a sound company that you know will be there in the future.

Another important point, it does no good to build a list with a company that will fold in the future – your email list will be gone!

Blogging as Alex puts it is one of the best ways to get everything going for your website and what you are up to according to Alex.

Documenting and telling people about your journey is interesting and will create followers for you! Well, this is not rocket science, but it truly makes sense.

If you just let people know what you are doing, it creates an interest. Interest creates potential customers and followers and the process begins.

I have a few content websites, some have been online over 2 years, and they recieve good volumes of traffic – over 500 visits a day.

I should have had a really great list of warm readers and potential customers, but sadly, I don’t.

Well, that is all changing. I now am focusing on list bulding from these visitors.

It is working out better than expected! – In one week I have 9 opt in’s to one of my lists….. so while this isn’t alot, it is better than 0 which is what I had just a week ago.

I am now going to treat my list with ‘kidd gloves’, giving them great free information inter mixed with the odd great deal to earn me some cash.

So – my focus at the moment is build the list – and send out some great free information that my list opt in’s will be happy to recieve. My whole objective here is that they value what I send.

Without value, they won’t remain a customer or potential customer and it will all be for nothing.

Unsolicited email marketing is a big turn off and a major no no. You will never build a customer base using this tactic.

Any of the successful internet email marketers are actually selling to what is known as a warm list. These are people that for some reason at some time agreed to be on their list.

Maybe it was a free give away, or a catchy email heading? A great thing to do is to open your awareness lines – what makes you join a list or stay on an email list?

Chances are these are the same things that attract others to the same list as well. You all have a common interest and had som belief in the person whose list you signed up for. Now if this person doesn’t abuse his or her list – it can have enormous power.

The sad thing about lists is we all start with “0″ on our list – after just a few short days, this list has 6 subscribed opt in people on it!

Now do the math – that is 2 people a day – this list should have at least 750 people on it in 1 year….. Now the site is 2 years old, so it already should have had a list of over a 1000 people – and I have just 6…..

I have to do the glass half full thing here and say 6 is better than 0 and just move forward – Believing and accepting that the real money to be made lies in the email list……

So far, so good! – Alex is really easy to follow and has a ton of knowledge he puts together in easy to understand terms – so the rest of us can actually get it!

Step one is getting into list building! You here it over and over from most successful internet marketing guru’s – THE MONEY IS IN THE LIST!

Problem is most of the rest of us struggling to earn some cash off the internet really do ignore email lists.

I gave this some real thought the other evening and looked in my email account for some insight…….. how many lists am I on?

Now, you have to understand, I am not really into being on someone’s list, so this was eye opening for me. Ready for the number – 16 lists!

So step #1  for all of us who don’t think that email lists and list builders are important – ask yourself – How many lists am I on? Do I read the emails? Have I purchased anything?

Now I have to admit, I am a sucker for a good landing page, so that aside, I do read the emails & information sent out to the lists! (More often than I thought).

So bottom line, I think those Guru’s are right – The money is in the list!
